F.t Earnest & Collective Stratford II & Cardigan II

With the range of shoe colours available, there is no way one can find the exact shoe polish colour for their shoes. So how does this shoe polish colour thing work anyway? The trick is to always select a shoe polish colour that is most similar to your shoes. Still confused? No worries, we will be pairing our shoes with the different Saphir shoe polishes for the best match today!

1. Black Shoes

Black Shoe Polish Guide

Black shoes are really straight-forward, just go for black shoe polish! For black, it's a really safe colour, not just for styling wise but even when you got some dirt on them. Its hard to spot them on your shoes. Do take caution with our deep emerald shoes though, as they are often confused for black. They are actually a mix of brown and dark green so getting a dark brown or dark green shoe polish will be more suitable.

2. Tan & Rust Shoes

Light Brown Shoe Polish Guide

Now here comes the tough part, brown. If you head to Hanger Project's website, there's no exact brown option available, with only light brown, medium brown and dark brown displayed. The light brown polish comes with a subtle hint of orange and yellow. Hence, if you own a pair of our tan or rust, the light brown polish is just for you. That's because tan is a pale tone of brown while rust is a orange-reddish-brown, both of which have a light shade of brown similar to the light brown polish.

For burnished tan, burnished rust and patina tan, you could actually try out the medium brown polish, since they are slightly darker than the normal tan and rust.

3. Walnut, Burnished Brown, Chestnut, Antique/Burnished Coffee Shoes

Medium Brown Shoe Polish Guide

If your brown shoes are not too light yet not too dark, then medium brown is what you need. The dark brown shoe polish is also suitable for these shoes, however there's a downside where your shoes might look slightly darker after polishing them.

Do take note for the coffee shoes that only antique and burnished coffee are suitable for the medium brown shoe polish whereas the coffee shoes are more suited for the dark brown shoe polish. For chestnut shoes, giving them a shine from a light brown shoe polish is also possible.

4. Espresso, Dark Oak, Coffee, Deep Emerald Shoes

Dark Brown Shoe Polish Guide

So now its pretty easy! For brown shoes that are in a darker tone, just grab a dark brown shoe polish and they will be good to go!

Here's a cool trick, if you are intending to achieve an antique or patina effect onto your light brown shoes, you can polish them with a dark brown shoe polish. Remember, you should apply the dark shoe polish more on the toe box area, if not they might look too messy when applied all over.

If it's too much of a hassle, you can always head on to our website to purchase our antique & patina series: earnestcollective.com

5. Oxblood, Mahogany Shoes

Mahogany Shoe Polish Guide

Now for the red, as the red tints are all quite similar, there's isn't any problem if you use any of the red tinted shoe polish (Bordeaux, Mahogany, Hermes Red) on red shoes. Still, if you are intending to get the best match for an oxblood shoe, then getting the mahogany is what we recommend, as the mahogany consists of a strong brown shade of red which are more suited for the oxblood colour.

6. Redwood Shoes

Hermes Red Shoe Polish Guide

Though they look quite similar to the oxblood, the redwood is in a slightly lighter shade compared to the oxblood, hence you will need to get a lighter shoe polish. Go for the hermes red that is much lighter than the mahogany.

7. Bordeaux Red, Wine Shoes

Bordeaux Shoe Polish Guide

The bordeaux and wine are in a slightly more purple-ish colour compared to oxblood, hence we recommend the bordeaux shoe polish, which is a deep wine colour consisting of strong purple hints.

At the end of the day, it is not really necessary to follow the chart exactly, as long as you pick the shoe polish most similar to your shoe colour. Some tips to take note, if you are worried about choosing a wrong shoe polish, you can always go for a neutral or a slightly lighter colour shoe polish!
